The Peak District: A Walkers Guide

The Peak District National Park is a haven of natural beauty and is home to a variety of stunning landscapes, from vast open moors to winding rivers. Edale and the Pennine Way

Edale is a small village located at the start of one of Britain’s most famous walking routes, the Pennine Way, which offers some of the best walking experiences in Britain, making this a great spot for walkers. Why not try exploring this path for yourself so you can enjoy the great views it offers over the valley of Edale.

Dovedale

Located in the southern Peak District, Dovedale is an area renowned for its natural beauty and is located along the banks of the river Dove. The area is home to a number of great walking routes and amazing natural landscapes, including a variety of interesting limestone formations and extensive woodlands. There are a number of great walking routes in the area; however following this route from the National Trust offers the chance to catch a glimpse of the best sights the area has to offer.

Kinder Scout

A great walk for those who fancy something a little more challenging is to explore the Dark Peak area, which is home to the highest hills in the Peak District and is characterised by its large grit stone crags and breathtaking heather-covered moorlands. One of the best routes in the area is to try tackling Kinder Scout, a moorland plateau which is located at the highest point in the Peak District. It is accessible from villages such as Hayfield and Edale and is a popular destination among walkers. If you’re lucky enough you may also have the opportunity to spot some of the regions vast array of fantastic wildlife including its variety of moorland birds.
