What’s On: Upcoming Events Taking Place in Derbyshire and The Peak District

Offcote Grange Cottage Holidays specialise in providing luxury 5* holiday cottages in Derbyshire and the Peak District. Both are brilliant places to visit, and there is always something to see and do.

If you’re hesitating whether to come spend time down here this summer, let us tempt you with some of the exciting upcoming events that are taking place in the next few months!

Chesterfield Medieval Market (Friday 10th – Saturday 18th July)

This one started on Friday, but it does run until Saturday 18th so we thought that it was worth including on our list. It’s a market that uses medieval roots as its inspiration, in which the people working on the stalls dress up in amazing outfits.

You can buy fresh food, fashion items, gifts and homeware – so there is something that should interest everyone.

Stainsby Festival at Stainsby (Friday 17th – Sunday 19th July)

Stainsby Festival is a three day music and arts festival that takes place in a stunning rural setting. It’s produced by a charity, and is a not for profit event – it’s run entirely by unpaid volunteers. All profits made from the event, go straight back into it.

The festival celebrates live music, which includes hearing, playing, writing and performing. It also has other activities throughout the weekend for people to enjoy, such as craft stalls, music workshops, poetry, theatre and plenty of children’s entertainment.

There is a bar for the adults, selling local sourced ales, which you can enjoy whilst sitting around the pond which overlooks Hardwick Hall.

It’s a fun day out (or weekend) for the whole family, and is well worth a visit!

Buxton Family Festival at the Pavilion Gardens (Saturday 1st – Sunday 16th August)

If you’re looking for something to do that will entertain the kids when visiting Derbyshire this summer, Buxton Family Festival might provide the perfect day out. This is the second year that it has taken place, since it proved to be a big success last year. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy, providing hours of fun for everyone. It runs over a massive 16 days, so there is plenty of time to get yourself down to enjoy the fun.

During the two weeks that it takes place, there are several big things taking place. This includes a circus show, which is where you can witness some of the best high wire and acrobatic acts – plus clowns and other circus entertainment. You can also visit the fun fair – guaranteed to keep your children entertained!
